Sense of an Idiot

This sensory workshop invites blind and visually impaired participants to step inside Told by an Idiot’s playful way of making theatre. Through a series of practical exercises, participants will explore storytelling using sound, rhythm, touch and movement. We will create imaginative scenes using sensory storytelling techniques rooted in our ethos of “if you have a good time, so will your audience”. 

Working together through games, music and devising, participants are encouraged to build confidence, express themselves and embrace the unexpected. Using a range of tactile and audio materials, the workshop opens new ways of making and experiencing theatre, in a space where everyone is invited to play. 

We have previously delivered this workshop for the RSBC – Royal Society for Blind Children. The workshop can be adapted depending on the participants ages and support needs. 

The workshop is led by Idiot practitioners Holly Delefortrie and Maria Laumark, who are both experienced working in inclusive environments and have Blind/Visually impaired awareness and guide training.
