Told by an Idiot have been inspired by Shakespeare in a variety of different ways. From our international anarchic street happening Kill Will, to our co production with the Royal Shakespeare Company of The Comedy of Errors, from our bilingual collaboration of A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Svenka Theatre in Helsinki to our acclaimed 5 star deconstruction of King Lear; My Perfect Mind.

This workshop examines closely the Idiots' approach to Shakespeare. Through a variety of exercises including finding the game in the scene, following a physical impulse and owning the text, a vibrant, dynamic contemporary and practical approach to playing Shakespeare is revealed. Led by actor Sophie Russell; who as well as working with Told ay an Idiot has spent years finding the comic joy in many productions at the RSC and Shakespeare’s Globe; she has played the Fool in King Lear, Bottom in A Midsummer Nights’ Dream, Malvolio in Twelfth Night, Richard III in Richard III and has just finished finding the absurdity in Shakespeare’s bloodiest show as Marcus in Titus Andronicus. She is also an artistic associate and teacher for Spymonkey Theatre and teaches at LAMDA and for The Globe education department.
