Matt Winning Dr Matt Winning is a Lecturer (teaching) in the Economics of Sustainability at University College London. Matt has a PhD in climate policy from University of Strathclyde and was previously Head of Climate Research at Oxford Economics. His research includes economics of the Paris Agreement and the Lancet Countdown on Climate Change with several citations in the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change AR6 report. He is also a climate comedian who performs live comedy and theatre shows about global warming at festivals and events across the world, including at Edinburgh Fringe, COP28, Royal Institution, New Scientist, Bluedot, Greenbelt, HowTheLightGetsIn, SxSW London, UK Schools Climate Assembly and many more. His latest show Solastalgia had several sell-out runs at London’s Soho Theatre and glowing reviews. He hosted the BBC Radio 4 series "Net Zero: A Very British Problem" and has guest appeared on Best Medicine, The Now Show, The News Quiz and Strong Message Here with Armando Iannucci. He was the Environmental Correspondent on Unspun with Matt Forde. Matt has a TEDx talk about the importance of using humour to discuss the topic, a tool which he used extensively in his debut book ‘HOT MESS: What On Earth Can We Do About Climate Change’ which Adam Kay described it as “a very funny, important and only moderately terrifying clarion call of a book”.
