Taught by an Idiot Fun Palace For over 10 years, every October we have taken part in Fun Palaces around the country, inviting local communities to dive into a world of theatre; from drama games for the whole family to designing costumes, fruit puppetry and exploring our theatre making process. All of our Fun Palace events are completely free. About Fun Palaces Fun Palaces supports local people to co-create their own cultural and community events, across the UK and worldwide, sharing and celebrating the genius in everyone. At Fun Palaces people come together to share their skills, passions and interests, and to show the world just how brilliant and packed full of genius their community is. https://funpalaces.co.uk/ Over the past 10 years our Fun Palaces have included: 2025: Charlton House Library Taking inspiration from our co-production with Unicorn Theatre How Does Santa Go Down The Chimney? we created games and activities to explore this question, and discovered some inventive answers. 2024: Peterborough Central Library This Fun Palace involved the first performance of our Associate Company Bric à Brac show The Intrusion, complete with audience interaction, discussions and games. 2023: Normanton Library, Derby In collaboration with inclusive theatre company, Hubbub, we explored creativity, music theatremaking and crafts. 2022: Birmingham Library Hip hop dancing features in many Idiot shows, and through this Fun Palace, Birmingham locals joined us in dance and choreography workshops. 2021: Boundary Estate Fun Palace, Bethnal Green Idiot practitioners led a day of clowning workshops and activities for the whole family. 2020: Tiny Fun Palaces This year Fun Palaces were hyper localised, due to COVID19 restrictions.
