Description automatically generatedSteve is a qualified actuary and has worked predominantly within the reinsurance industry since coming to London in 1994.  Steve studied actuarial mathematics and statistics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, graduating in 1992. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 1998.  He has held several roles in The City, including being an FSA approved person, and currently is Chief Actuary for Pool Reinsurance, an arm’s length government body that provides resilience to the UK in the event of a terrorist attack. 

Steve describes himself as an insurance mathematician and is generally immersed in spreadsheets, writing programming code or building mathematical models to represent the financial risk to insurance companies.

Steve is married and has two adult children.  His passions include health, fitness, and longevity.  Steve enjoys the theatre and live jazz that London has to offer. With a career to date of over 30 years in the financial sector Steve is excited to apply his experience to diversified areas such as Told by an Idiot.  He is also a trustee of Enfield Citizens Advice Bureau.
