Leo Butler was born and raised in Sheffield.  His plays include Woyzeck (premiering at Birmingham Rep in June 2018), Boy (Almeida Theatre), Decades (Brit School/Ovalhouse), Juicy Fruits (Paines Plough UK Tour), Faces in the Crowd (Royal Court), I’ll Be The Devil (Royal Shakespeare Company), The Early Bird (Queen’s Theatre, Belfast), Lucky Dog (Royal Court), Redundant (Royal Court, winner of the 2001 George Devine Award), and Made of Stone (Royal Court).

He wrote the screenplay for Turner Prize winning artist Gillian Wearing’s feature film Self Made, and as a musician/composer he has collaborated with Dan Persad on two albums, Alison: A Rock Opera and The Collective Psychosis of the 21st Century, both of which are available on iTunes.
