Joey Holden

Joanna Holden is a renowned performer with over 25 years experience as actor, director, clown and facilitator.  Born and raised in a working class family in Scunthorpe, despite a career spanning the globe she has never lost her northern roots.

Joey has worked with Told by an Idiot since the company began, performing in productions, directing projects and leading workshops. She has extensive experience delivering creative workshops with participants of all ages and backgrounds, including children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), primary, secondary and university students, drama schools, community groups and refugee organisations. Her playful and inclusive approach creates supportive environments where participants feel confident to explore, collaborate and take creative risks.

In addition to Told by an Idiot, Joanna has worked with companies including Cirque du Soleil, Kneehigh, The RSC, The National Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Hull Truck, Soho, The Royal Festival Hall, York Theatre Royal, Theatre By The Lake, Bolton Octagon, Northern Stage and Sheffield Crucible.
