Culture Recovery Fund

We are delighted to announce that we have received a grant of £79,979 from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund, set up to help organisations recover and reopen. The fund will allow us to develop exciting new projects both live and digital.

It will help us to create new content, continue to reach our audiences across 21/22 and regain stability following a very difficult year; a year where we committed to ‘staying live’ - pivoting a show to outdoors (Get Happy at Greenwich+Docklands Festival), producing our very first podcast, and running Idiot workshops online.

The grant will enable us to develop new, exciting digital content and employ 7 innovative new filmmakers who will work with Told by an Idiot on a programme of Idiot short films to be released in 2021.

The money awarded will enable us to do more R&D this year, to make up for lost time and to ensure that we continue our commitment to experimentation and accessibility. We will also be able to employ a freelance Partnerships Producer for 2 days a week for 6 months in order to boost our Taught by an Idiot engagement activity and capitalise on the interest we’ve received in our online workshops, as well as getting more people experiencing in-person Idiot workshops when guidelines allow.

It’s a much-needed helping hand for our transition to the new normal in the months ahead.
