Told by an Idiot are looking for 6 D/deaf or disabled and 6 non disabled performers with an openness, curiosity and a desire to play to join us for a unique initiative in collaboration with the Barbican Centre. Let Me Play The Lion Too is a project routed in improvisation and it revels in the skill and spontaneity of the performer.
Actors with a limited experience of improvising but with a desire to become creators of their own work are invited to apply for group auditions leading to the formation of a mixed ensemble of performers who will explore the energy, spirit, and anarchy of Commedia del Arte. This project is part of the Sky Arts Art 50 scheme, which will explore what it means to be British at such a pivotal moment in our history.
The intensive two-week period of improvisation intends to empower those taking part to take responsibility for their creativity, to push their creativity in new ways, and looks to address diversity in the wider arts infrastructure. We are looking for performers who are excited by this opportunity and ready to take the first steps into creating their own work.
The project will run for two weeks and culminate in 3 improvised events at the Barbican. This is a paid opportunity.
