Workshops

We run highly practical professional development workshops across the year for theatre makers at all stages of their career. These workshops focus intensively on different aspects of Told by an Idiot's unique and collaborative approach to creating theatre.

To be the first to know about upcoming workshop opportunities and to take advantage of exclusive Early Bird offers, sign up to our workshops mailing list here.

We can also tailor versions of all our workshops to specific groups (including non-theatre makers) and settings and often design brand-new workshops in collaboration with other organisations, such as theatre companies, schools and universities.

Please contact Participation Manager Sarah Sharp if you would like us to deliver a workshop for you, if you have any questions or would just like to find out more.

Subsidised / free workshop places

Breaking down barriers to participating in our workshops is an important aim for Told by an Idiot. For us, this means our Idiot community becomes more diverse and we have a rich collective imagination to draw from in the workshop room. We don’t want a price tag to be a barrier to taking advantage of these opportunities for professional development. In keeping with the accessible nature of our productions, we want to be able to include everyone.

We currently open up access to our workshops in three different ways:

  • Free places for under 25-year-olds, who would not otherwise be able to afford a place
  • Free places plus support costs (e.g. support workers, BSL interpreters) where needed for D/deaf and/or disabled participants
  • Pay what you feel places (paying what you feel the workshop is worth, and what you can afford)

Whenever subsidised or free places are available, they will appear on our Opportunities Page.
