‘The actor is the beginning and the end of theatre’  Jozef Houben

For Told by an Idiot, the actor is at the centre of our process. As our 30th anniversary year draws to a close, this December, we are offering a chance to spend 2 days with our Artistic Director, Paul Hunter, exploring the role of the performer.

This vibrant, engaging and practical workshop will reveal what lies at the heart of Idiot performance. Drawing on comic physicality, impulse, instinct, verbal improvisation and the notion of play, participants will leave with an Idiot tool kit of provocations to take into 2024.

This workshop forms part of our 30th birthday celebrations and sits alongside the return of our hit-show Get Happy, to the Barbican Pit this Christmas.  With a major UK co production and international touring dates lined up for 2024, this is a great opportunity for AD Paul Hunter to meet and work with new performers.

As part of the workshop package you will also be our guest to see Get Happy at the Barbican (subject to availability).
