The Firework-Maker’s Daughter

12th March 2003 - 5th March 2005

The Fireworkmakers Daughter was a startling adaptation of the novel by the acclaimed author Philip Pullman.

It follows the adventures of a young girl Lila, who desperately wants to be a firework-maker, as she crosses mountains, battles with meddlesome pirates, outwits a cruel King and finally faces the infamous Fire-Fiend. The show was a fantastical adventure story and a poigant human tale of a girl growing up.  Adapted for the stage by Stephen Russell.

Reviews

The Guardian on The Firework-Maker’s Daughter

There are so many theatrical magic moments in this show…....it is vulgar and wistful, delicate yet robust, and it goes with a bang.

Evening Standard on The Firework-Maker’s Daughter

It’s a real cracker.
